Well, you know the rest. The deadline is coming up for our annual Mashup Contest, and yes, the Vitale Digital Media Lab is here to help! If you’re looking for a fun, creative outlet during finals, why not submit your own video experiment? You could be our first place winner and proud new owner of a video camera ($500 value*)
Your mashup video should remix or repurpose material from existing materials. The addition of original footage is fine. Videos incorporating this year’s Penn Reading Project theme, Year of Games, are especially welcomed!
Length: Run time not to exceed 5 minutes
Format: DVD quality video and/or online video (through YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).
Eligibility: Currently enrolled Penn undergraduate and graduate students (individuals or teams). Each student can be the lead filmmaker on only one entry.
Submission: Submit online entry form. Due by 9 pm on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Entry must include a completed application form and DVD disk. Please bring entries to the Vitale Digital Media Lab in the Weigle Information Commons, 1st floor west, Van Pelt Dietrich Library Center.
Judging: A panel of Penn faculty and student judges will review the mashups on criteria including:
- Creative, sophisticated use of existing material for new purposes
- Quality of technical aspects, design and structure
- Ability to engage a variety of audiences
- Relevance to the Year of Games
A People’s Choice award will be selected by online voting.
