Someone came up with this great (and fabulously inexpensive) way to create a tripod in order to support an iPhone or similar device to shoot video or photographs. See the setup procedure at http://imgur.com/a/vqKvH
The idea is to use 2 large binder clips attached to an existing tripod. Here’s a view of the final setup:
I have a couple binder clips in the lab, so I rigged them up with one of our tripods and shot a quick video at the front of the WIC to test it out. It was trivially simple to set up, and as you can see, it works beautifully:
If you’re a Penn student, faculty member, or staff member, you can borrow tripods and other equipment free of charge from the Vitale Digital Media Lab. See wic.library.upenn.edu/wicfacilities/lending.html for the details. (But you’ll have to provide your own binder clips.
Thanks to Jesse Turnbull for sending this idea our way.
